Just in case you had not noticed, the abuility to make rapid "spam attacks" has been removed by the most recent update. I'm sad to see it go, but I suppose it had to be done. Don't be too disappointed when your favorite tactic doesn't work anymore!

I do believe combo attacks are supposed to work as originally intended, thus negating the need for spam melee. I had only just learned about it less than a week before the update myself.
Don't remember where I saw it on the DDO forums, but I can research and post the link if anyone is interested.

Cliff- First off, nice job on the Theoden quote- it's one of my all-time faves, instatly recognizable from Pelennor Fields.
Second, you gotta rub in that 12.1 thing, don't you? I'll get there, jst not as fast.
Third, what the heck are combo attacks?

Not gloating, just basking in the glory of my achievement! Some might construe that as gloating, I suppose... so no more talk of how uber I am... The combo attacks are all those swings that you take when you're hitting a monster. Four swings at level 10. Each is supposed to either do more damage or have a higher attack bonus to hit. I'm not exactly sure on the mechanics, but I'd be happy to research it and post.

I should not tease you, O Mighty One. Your really ARE uber. So combo attacks are not some twitchy-clicky thing I need to do, just normal swings that get better at higher levels. Gotcha.
I still miss my spam attacks, tho.

Alright here's the big skinny. I tested this out myself just to see what the facts are:
Swinging Retribution (for the intent of this examination, a +1 longsword), Cliffopold has a +18 to his attack die. With each successive swing, another +5 is added to this modifier, thus increasing the chance of landing a blow. At tenth level and higher, you get four attacks while swinging from a stationary position. Thusly,
first swing: +18 to hit second swing: +23 to hit third swing: +28 to hit fourth swing: +33 to hit
This is added to your attack die, not your damage output. As you can see, on that fourth swing I can hit a monster with 35 AC even if I roll a 2! That +5 per swing also stacks with any buffs you might have (heroism, divine favor, etc etc). Properly buffed and equipped, there isn't much that I can't strike in the game, even at the higher difficulties.
I find this to be a very useful change. If nothing else, it saves a small amount of wear on my mouse over spamming mobs!
