A few of us tried the Archer quest in Marketplace North given by Jasper and wow did we get our ego's handed to us.
It's a timed quest and an escalated version of Kobald's Assault. Lanaw and Nonrev joined the slaughter. I racked up -800 exp for the evening trying that quest. It's a lvl 5 quest and strategy is a must. Where you get into trouble is not taking out the spellcasters fast enough. They cast everything imaginable on you.
After a few hick-ups we realized the boss is to the far right and needed to be taken out first.
We did not complete the quest so I will be trying it again tonight if I get the chance.
Recommended group.
2 Spellcasters for Web ~ a serious must (Remember fireball destroys web) 2 Tanks 1 Paladin ~ for obvious reasons 1 Cleric to remove negative magic and heals The Paladin can be changed with either another Tank or Cleric depending on the individuals

This sounds like fun, in a dark sorta way. Give me a shout if you need another fighter. Actually, we prefer "Personnel Removal Specialist" to "tank". More dignified <sniff>.

I'm up for another try tonight. We came close the second time. I wonder if it is better just to try to run past the giants, or is it necessary to kill them all?

We came , we saw... we died... we came again, we saw more clearly, and we conquered. The party was Grimbal, Nonrev, Lanaw, Mr. Ironhide (such a stud these days I am afraid to use his first name), Luthien, and myself. This first try was not something I care to discuss. Basically, we got slaughtered. On the second try, though, we were tight, stayed close , the healers were on fire (not literally, that was what happened the FIRST time) and Malvar...uh, Mr Ironhide, SIR..., whacked them puppies down like a Zamboni machine through a Hobbit convention. It was AWESOME.

Malvar Blushes. Thanks Duagrim. I don't know if it was on that misson or the start of tangle root - but at one point, I hit 3 crits in a row with a minimum damage of 82pts. Man it feels good to finally be able to produce.
Of course Malvar scared of Magic - saving throws bad (except fort). I danced several times, and I am horribly scarred by Fire.
Anybody know of an item that is Acid/ Sonic/Cold/ Fire/ Electricity Proof with about a +10 to will save? - I have -1Holy Stick of the silver Flame to trade for it.

I'm jealous....
Last night I decided to run some quests to make sure my experience for the night was positive instead of negative 800. We had a great group of all guild members except one. Pulled over 7k in exp last night.

We need to send customer tickets about this power leveling modifier for level differences. Consistantly I have seen now that a 4 level difference is no experience. We experienced this on Archers last night. I felt so bad for Lanaw, he was neg experience a lot and when we finally finished the Archer quest he got skunked on 0 exp. What a horrible conclusion. Sorry Lanaw, =(

The worst part is us lowers get double penalized. Thais say we do a level 8 mission and some are level 6 and we have a level 10 as well. We take a minus on the mission (10 or 20%) for having the level 10 and then we take an additional minus for having someone 4 levels higher than we are (about 50%) for a total of minus 70% or XP. And if you die or have to reenter for any reason, mission not worth doing.

I agree with both of the posts about higher-level toons penalizing lower-level toons on lower-level quests. Grimbal has a nice approach with "Becker" as his alt. I'm working up a rogue, too, just to see the differences between the two types of toons. What we probably should do for our guild-based quests is try to stay within 2 or 3 levels of the participants, but to keep our higher-level toons advancing that means that on some nights our higher-level players need to group together and try some of the hard quests with higher XP. It is great to elp lower-level guild members come along in XP and levels, but the guild also needs to provide support for those players trying to make it to levels 8 through 10, too.

Don't worry about it Grimbul I still gained back the -968 and added additional 3,500exp for the night so almost 4.5k total. And I made 12,000gp to boot.
Now this archer's point quest is supposed to be a L5 quest. That means it's supposed to be a challenge for 4 L5 toons. Now I think we can all agree, unless those 4 are super-twinks they are not getting Jack out of that quest. It seems more geared for 4 of L8, than 4 of L5.

I totally agree, the quest level is too low, maybe they will change it, who knows.
