You know, the root of all evil. ;D I never seem to have any (in a case of game mimicing life!). The other nite I had the embarassment of having to get party members to float me a loan so I could repair my equipment and continue an adventure, a most un-Dwarf-like situation I would like never to repeat. While I appreciate the generosity of those who helped out ( you know who you are, and I am planning to pay it back with interest whetther you want it or not!) I would like to know; How does one keep a fat bank balance in this game? Between buying weapons and keeping a stock of healing potions, I always seem to be running short. How do you do this? Advice, please! If only so I can stop cadging loans!

Do you collect the collectables? Several of them give away healing potions and other decent items that can be resold. Do you sell you magic items at the various brokers? Brokers give you more money for the items than regular traders and taverns.
how do you find weapons worth buying? I have bought a total of three weapons from the weapon shop - one was race restricited and I did not notice it, one was a greatxbow (I thought it was heavy) and required a feat to use that I don't have and Finally I found 1 good backup weapon. Outside of that I never really find anything at the shops to buy. (After Jupiter's comment let me rephrase - I never find anything useful at the shops to buy, there are plenty of weapons there, just nothing I find useful).

I agree with everything Mal stated... except for what he was implying about the pawnshops. They are as is... whatever someone sales there... it shows up there. Now... on chances... I have found some nice weapons... most likely due to someone getting it and not knowing what they got or not being able to use it. So, when thinking of Pawnshops in that regard... they serve a purpose.
On how to gain money... the bulk of mine comes from simply selling items to the correct vendor. If things are going well... I may even pick up collectibles that I see... since some yield very nice items (esp when only one is needed to be turned it for a reward).
I just recently (2 days ago) bought a nice weapon for my low lvl... I blew about 22k... I have already recouped that and more in less than a two days.
Getting a 100k just means you hold on to it alittle longer... hehe.

There is a money tree in house "P" in the top left corner. You jump three times facing Noth East and turn around four times counter clock wise and money falls from the tree.
If you try this then I have some really good swamp land in South Lousiana where the crawfish are as big as lobsters.
About Money.... Keep everything you get and sell to the vendors. I do not collect collectibles because it takes up to much room and takes to long to run around and drop off. I trade my weapons with guild members to acquire better stuff while improving and helping my fellow guild members in return. If no one wants anything then I sell my findings. This way I have plenty of money for potions.

Hey Sabatuer - if you don't want the collectables, when we are team together Just pick 'em up and give to me during adventure every so often, I will put them to good use. I know I have gotten close to 30K or more of repairing items from them alone.

i spend about 1 k on repairs per hr of playing.. normally sell off everything below +2 without effects. everything else goes to the guild and if no one wants it then it's sold... i don't buy stuff as there's nothing good in the pawnshops for my lvl. have generally around 10 k..

Yea I used to have a very large bank account, over 200,000 gold, now I am below 50,000. Cure Wands have been my biggest expense. 12000 a pop for a wand has been killing me, and I go through them way too fast now that shrines are pretty much gone. I have easily gone through 20 wands in the past few days.

I just read a very good thread on the DDO forums about helping out a cleric. Suggestions were made for a cure wand to be given to the cleric before the quest start, and each person to have a supply of cure potions and buffs so clerics SP were conserved for healing.
Also, a reference made that anyone that sells a cure wand should be severely beaten about the head and shoulders ;D

Wands are expensive alright, and they dont seem to drop for me as much anymore and of course they are not fully charged anymore either. They should have a feature that allows us to pay to fully charge wands. Each time you recharge it, 5 charges are reduced from its max.
