Last nite a bunch of us (J/fist, J/ice, Arathorne, Ravenwolf, Malvar, and Duagrim) did Threnal East. We got to the last room easily enough, which requires that you keep a rather dimwitted NPC alive for 15 minutes under heavy assault. Frankly, it would not be a very hard instance, except for (1) he's an idiot and attacks stuff he can't handle, and (2) you can't heal him. The biggest problem is the attack by swarms of mephits, which are hard to keep away from the NPC, what with 'em flying and all. We succeeded when we finally got the idea (well, Jupiterfist got the idea) of killing the Mephits as soon as they appeared. So; what's the best way to exterminate mephits? My best solution was to attack with a 2H weapon with my highest possible attack mod, even if that meant sacrificing damage. They are not all that tough, but are difficult to hit because they move a lot. I figured that with great Cleave and a 2H weapon, I'd jut swing the thing around as much as possible and sorta spray damage in all directions. Not elegant, but it DID seem to work. The Mephits went down pretty quickly. It became much like an area effect spell. Anybody got a better idea? I went with a 2H axe bexcause I get axe bonuses and have a +4 2H axe; your mileage may vary.

I will be on tonight and would love to run Threal or CO6. I have only done partial Thernal and don't even know where CO6 is.
I will be on at 8:30 central tonight if anyone wants to help me.
