Well the other night we went after the famed vampire in House of P... and well... this was a TC group but alas... we were too low and not with the correct party makeup. I am sure there are strategies that examine the makeup of this... but we tried with the following with less than stellar results... L7 Ranger L7 Fighter L6 Barb L6 Fighter L7 Wiz L9 Cleric In the end... we were not doing enough dmg. We had the right weapons... but this is clearly a magic fight... with melee suffering intensely. I have done this before with Selina... but we were lvl 10s and the magic users were very skilled. I thought melee played a bigger part... but I was mistaken. My apologies for leading fellow guildees to this dismal outcome. We must have died 4 or 5 times. The worst part... he owned us so easily... nothing worse then having a purple glow above your head show that you were owned.

I have also experienced the frustration of losing to this guy, repeatedly. I have completed in once on Normal but am 0-2 on hard. IN the last attempt on Hard, I believe the make up was (sorry if I Get guild memebers levels wrong):
L9 Fighter (Malvar) L10 Rogue L8 Paladin (who was a major Pain in the Arse) L8 Wizard (Dhokar) L10 Wizard L8 Cleric (Ravenmoon) and eventually L9 Sorcerer (who replaced the rogue after the rogue logged)(Or was she Wizard, now I cannot remember clearly)
All four promary spell casters were fully loaded on SP, the 3 Arcane caster all potions, etc., which increased the damage thier MM by 30-40%. Ravenmoon was fully charged and hand 1 or two waands of Cure serious wounds and the paladin also had wand of cure light wounds. Howeve the paldin did not have any "lay on hands" ability because, according to him, his charisma was was too low. (based on what he said his Lay on hands helaed he had a +2 charisma modifier at level 8 and could not benefit from Eagles's splendor (meaning his base charisma, as a Paladin, was 10).
Every body epmtied everything they had into this guy. We only mange to get him down to about 25% health at the lowest point and then we were wiped. IMO that was ridiculous that he could not be brought down by that much fire power.

Jupiter..... Don't feel bad about dragging me into that quest. I was quite excited to face my first vampire.
This is what I learned.... I thought Greaseum was fast becoming the ultimate fighting machine but quickly realized he was a punk who got puncked by a vampire.
I used every weapon I had and never did more than 10 damage and that was only once out of 250 swings.
I'll gey my revenge.

I was part of a party that killed the Vampire, but that was just after beta. Since then I, too, have failed that quest several times, so it may be that Turbine has stiffened the quest, especially the Vampire. What worked the first time was to agro the guy and pull back into the hallway. As I recall, a key to getting the Vampire was to kill all of the other beasties in his room first, like the Boss at the end of Stormcleave. Also, I believe that Searing Light (spell or wand) worked on him. Let me know if you decide to try it again some time when I'm around. TC's honor is at stake.

WHAT!?! An all TC party FAILED!?!?! This cannot be borne! Honor must be salvaged, revenge must be swift!!! Talonclaw, unite and smite the foe...oh, was my mic on? Sorry. Er, I think we maybe ought to nail the vamp? but that's just me. ;D

Did a Fire Giant Cave Loot Run and picked up
Two different Silver lined swords. One with Acid the other with a Ghost Touch..... Question, will either of these weapons help with the vampire?

Reply, yes they should, at least on normal. I now have +3 silver scimitar for use against him. Normal Vampire DR is 10/silaver AND magic. Normal Vampires have resistance 10 to Cold and Electricity. I do not know if Turbine alters the DR of the Vampire if it is on hard/elite.
So yes, the silver acid sword should get through his Dr completely providing you can hit him and he doesn't dominate you, blind you, holy flame you to death, etc.

yeah.. by right they should but his ac is something like 40+. So providing you do hit him you, his regen will overcome it anyway.
the only way to do this is to have at least 2 mages blast him away..
