Finally had the opportunity to run this quest last night. I was able to get Seline to join us after our other Wizard was a flake.....
We truly lucked out and had the best tour guide EVER!!! His name was Xixion and was a 10th lvl Rogue. If you ever see this guy run with him he is 100% legit. He walked us through this quest perfectly and knew it very well.
Seline is now the official Beholder killer and played a monumental part in our victory.
I did however not realize how long this quest really was and received a call on my phone upstairs from my wife at 2:30 in the morning giving me the (are you still playing that %$ game) lecture. Since our guide was so good we took our time and did very well but pushed the three hour mark.
Fun quest, extremely difficult quest, died several times to give me -1100 exp before we finished but did manage to lvl to 9. Who-ra.......

Hi Sabateur, congrats on the 9!
Yep, that was a great run! Sometimes things just luck out, I happened to jump on last night not even intending to run VON 3, although I have been dying to, and initially joined a random group that was trying to form up to run VON 3 themselves although there were only 3 of us in the group and none had done it. Thank you for sending me the invite for your group! I don't think things would have worked near as smooth or at all on that quest with my initial group.
Xixion was one of the best tour guides I've ever run with, that's for sure! I can't imagine the difficulty of that one without him. The other four players in our group were all of his guild which definitely makes things better. Guild groups or partial guild groups are always the way to go.
Well as you said, it was a complete luck out. I never expected to get that deep into that one, no less finish it on the first try! It turned out to be one of my favorite experiences in the game so far and totally by chance.
We did an amazing run on a very difficult quest and I must say I loved hunting and PK'ing the beholders! All you guys were great, but thanks for the nice words. That's always nice to hear! I do take great pleasure in playing my part and playing it well.
We should set something up to finish off pt. 4-5 no?

Grease would love to join but i will be out of town again.
If you guys run VoN 3 make sure you pay top dollar for a good guide. Dakor is knowledable and a Rogue by the name of Xixion. If you take your time it is 3+ hours.

Dakhor and I tried to get a mixed group through VoN3 yesterday. The group had two wizards and only one true fighter, and we all decided early on that there wasn't enough firepower among us to keep going. A wise decision, I think. The changes in invisibility appear to have affected this quest a great deal. The old way to get started was to hast and invis the party so we could run past the trolls to the cave entrance without aggroing them, leaving only a few guys to kill before getting int to the inside aprt of the quest. Now the trolls sens your presennce and follow to the cave entrance. That packs about 30 trolls plus the five guardians in a small space, and everybody dies. We shifted tactics the second time to kill the trolls enroute to the cave, but that added about 30 minutes to the start of the quest. If you try this as of now, try to get at least two strong tanks...

Hi, yep what sabatuer said, Xixion is knowledgable, grouped with him few times, and a good rogue too.
