I want to ask for opinions on how I play my sorceror. Just to know what others think.
Aeronius is currently L5, with spells like Burning Hands, MM, Shield, Summon Cute Lil' Doggie (Monster Summon I); Web & Scorching Ray. I carry items with charges for MM, BH, Feather Fall, Melf Acid Arrow, Monster Summon III; and wands of MM, Cure Light Wounds (for contingencies when running low on mana). I am armed with a ghost touch +1 heavy crossbow for range, and a thundering morningstar +1 for melee. Have the Black Widow Bracers from WW, Robe of Feather Fall (3 charges), and various little trinkets ending up with around 67hp, and AC around 15-17 (can't remember exactly).
So when I am in the quest, I would usually summon up the hell hound (3/day) when it seems like we might be getting into harm's way. Upon initiation of combat, I would usually stick to my crossbow (if web is required, I would lay that down first), and generally keep out of danger and conserve mana. I may occassionally lay down a BH or two if I see a bunched-up mob, crowding our tanks. But should at any time, I see our tanks getting beat up bad, or cleric in danger, or casters mana-dumping on us, I don't hesistate to spam MM, BH or SR as appropriate. So if the group is doing well, without my help, the only spells you'll see from me are webs and the occassional MM or BH. But when the group is in trouble, I mana-dump like mad.
Don't expect me to tank unless we are in deep trouble, out of mana and ammo, or if backed into a corner with no where to run. If I aggro something, I learned to run to a tank like the squishy wuss that I am, hopefully detouring through a web along the way.
What do you think of my preferred playing style? How do the other sorcs/wizzies here play their toons? Am curious to see how others do it.
